Oxford HR is a B-Corp certified global leadership consultancy, specialising in supporting leaders working towards environmental and social impact.

We manage executive level search and appointments as well as offering services which include executive coaching, DEI consulting, team and leadership development, interim placements and founder-CEO transitions, among many more offerings. We work with international and domestic non-profits, NGOs, consultancies, foundations, start-ups, think-tanks, social enterprises, multi-lateral development banks, government institutions, and businesses.

Our teams work globally from locations in Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas. We have over 40 staff, and 45 associates spread across 20 countries.

Role Summary

The Associate Engagement Manager will support the Managing Director in identifying new business opportunities and clients, assisting with the proposal development, marketing the business and its services, networking and representing the organization, and undertaking limited administrative tasks related to the pursuit of new business, relationships, and partnerships.

This role is essential to strengthening Oxford HR’s presence and brand across the Americas.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Generation & Business Development (50%)
  • Work with Associates, Consultants and Sector Specialism Leads to identify prospects and potential business opportunities and clients.
  • Develop, organize and undertake client/prospect outreach such as one-on-one meetings, seminars, events, speaking engagements, newsletters, or other direct client communications.
  • Attend in person meetings, events, and sector-relevant discussions to promote Oxford HR and develop new business prospects.
  • Set up and schedule initial consultation meetings with potential leads or procurement committees.
  • Support proposal development and pitch management from start to finish, tailoring content for Request for Proposals/Expression of Interests/Prequalification.
  • Track and monitor tender/bid opportunities on registered sites and Procurement portals.
  • Track industry news and opportunities.
Business Plans/Strategy (25%)
  • Contribute to the business development marketing plans (for example, to improve social media or other efforts) in consultation with the Director and Consultants.
  • Research and identify new markets, ideas, products, and services within the Americas region (excluding Canada).
  • Collect data and feedback on product trials and testing of new products/services in the market.
  • Monitor competitor activity, analyze competitor and geographics trends, draw conclusions, assess implications, and prepare reports.
Networking & Administration (25%)
  • Identify and map relevant events, seminars, engagements within the sector for networking and marketing.
  • Develop a quarterly calendar of key events and strategize potential client outreach during these events.
  • Prepare and draft report post attendance and analysis success rate in terms of number of clients targeted vs reached and send out follow-up to prospective clients.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to develop marketing collateral and ensure readiness for events.
  • Regularly update and maintain records of the business development pipeline on internal CRM tool.
  • Monitor the business development mailbox and respond or escalate queries.
  • Track and report on wins, losses, and their reasons to refine strategies.

Person Specification

Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional business development skills, with an understanding of the international nonprofit and multilateral market spaces.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build authentic relationships quickly.
  • Good negotiation skills, with the ability to engage executives and senior leadership teams.
  • Excellent presentation skills and written and spoken English, with experience of writing and developing proposals, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience of working internationally and collaboratively in a diverse and multi-cultural team.
  • A keen interest to learn about new subjects and organizations at speed.
  • Empathetic and intuitive with belief in your own judgement.
  • A willingness to work flexibly.
Experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of the executive search, leadership, and organizational change sectors – ideally, within, especially, the international nonprofit, nongovernmental, and development space.
  • Proven experience in business development, sales, marketing, communications, fundraising, or related field.
  • Proven experience of managing multiple consecutive projects, prioritizing work to deadlines, and achieving results working across and within diverse teams.
  • Background in client-facing roles, either in a commercial setting or with partners/funders in the NGO sector.
  • Proven strong networking, relationship development and relationship management expertise – with a particular focus on the nonprofit, NGO, development, or related sector.
  • Experience working in an international organization.
