Tell us why you wanted to work for Reall, what motivates you about the work?
I had been working in affordable housing for the previous 4 years in Pakistan with one of Reall’s partner organisations, a pioneering social enterprise called AMC. The work AMC did was visible, tangible, life transforming stuff and I thoroughly enjoyed being part of that. For a long time I have been wholly bought into the concept that for development to work effectively it needs to be financially sustainable, locally driven and socially impactful and Reall provided that opportunity, to work across a number of countries supporting that philosophy in the affordable housing sector- which felt like a perfect fit for me. Affordable climate smart housing is the nexus to addressing so many of the issues in development today including health outcomes, education, livelihoods, gender equality etc. If we get this right, we have the potential to impact so many aspects of a person’s life, ultimately providing them with the opportunity for multi-generational social upward mobility and that is a massively exciting prospect.
How was the support you had from Oxford HR during the recruitment process?
Zoe at Oxford HR was so instrumental in the recruitment process, guiding me throughout and providing the information I needed to make the right decision. The close communications and smooth liaisons that Zoe facilitated made the experience feel streamlined and professional and altogether pleasant, which I can’t say has been my usual experience during recruitment processes.
