Gertzen is a Registered Organisational/Industrial Psychologist, who holds a Master’s Degree from North-West University in South Africa, and specialises in the fields of Organisational Design, Change Management, Skills Assessments, as well as Leadership Development. He is multi-skilled and experienced, having completed numerous large-scale projects in the public, private and non-profit sectors globally. His skills include:
- Change Management: A sophisticated and robust yet adaptable approach to change management which includes both change management as a stand-alone deliverable as well as being incorporated into larger organisational design and development outcomes.
- Organisational Design & Development: Extensive experience in a broad range of industries, including the public and private sectors. Gertzen has invaluable structural, people development and training, strategy, operating model and organisational diagnostics experience in the commercial and public environment.
- Training, Facilitation & Coaching: Leading large-scale training and development programmes which include needs analysis, content development and delivery components in the form of facilitation, training and coaching.
- Talent Management: Develops human capital and talent management strategies and assists with the implementation of these strategies cascaded into plans through competence and skills auditing and analysis, people development strategies and programme management.
- Leadership Development: Assists leaders with their development within the public and private sectors through executive coaching, executive and board engagement, leadership alignment sessions and strategy development.

In addition to his professional profile, Gertzen is also an avid conservationist and wildlife enthusiast having worked on projects with the Endangered Wildlife Trust and WildlifeACT in his private capacity.
