Founded in 2008 by David and Sally Chaplin, Rwanda Action has delivered support to communities in South West Rwanda through livelihoods, education and disability focused projects. The organisation’s work is delivered through four thematic areas, Building Communities, Education, Disability and Street Children, with an emphasis on effective monitoring and evaluation to deliver scalable solutions.

Oxford HR partnered with Rwanda Action to find David’s successor as CEO, in a search that considered candidates from both the UK and Rwanda who brought a proven track record for senior leadership within international NGOs and a commitment to Rwanda Action’s vision, mission and values.

From a longlist of 12 diverse candidates, (5 women, 7 men) and through several rounds of interviews in close partnership with the board of trustees, the successful candidate was a unanimous appointment, bringing deep contextual knowledge and a dynamic approach which was well suited to the organisation’s next phase of growth and development.
