INASP works in partnership to strengthen the capacity of individuals and institutions to produce, share and use research and knowledge, in support of national development. With nearly 30 years’ experience of working with a global network of partners in Africa, Latin America and Asia, INASP believes that contributing to stronger and more equitable ecosystems will enable and empower knowledge producers and users, to address the key development challenges and improve lives. 

Key Objectives

We worked with INASP in 2021 on a search for their new Chair and Trustees. INASP’s 5 year strategy defined the intention for INASP to be more Southern-led, and draw more on Southern expertise. Increasing the diversity of their Board was a key part of this strategy. INASP wished to expand the search for candidates beyond their own networks, recognizing that few people have both operational/technical and governance/board experience. Drawing on our networks, Oxford HR supported INASP to find expert candidates for 4 posts (Chair of the Board and three new thematic trustees).

Oxford HR put together a very friendly and efficient team, including members based in the global south. The information they provided on longlist and then shortlist candidates was the right balance between detail and brevity, and the online system made it very easy to track progress and get a preview of the sort of candidates they were finding. Many of the candidates were extremely complimentary about the whole process and their interactions with Oxford HR throughout. We are really looking forward to working with our new chair and thematic trustees. Their mix of location and expertise will hugely help us to ensure our work is meeting the needs of partners in the South and help project INASP as a southern-led organization.
