The Client
The Syria Campaign is a non-profit that supports the movement for freedom, justice, and human rights in Syria. Independent and campaign-driven, it works closely with Syrian activists and civil society groups to amplify their voices and push for international action. Through storytelling, media, and advocacy, The Syria Campaign highlights the realities of life under dictatorship and war, defends targeted communities, and helps keep Syria on the global agenda.
Key Objectives
The Syria Campaign was seeking a strategic and hands-on Director of Finance and Operations to join during an exciting phase of organisational growth, midway through their five-year strategy. The role required a unique blend of expertise across finance, operations, and HR compliance, with experience managing grant-heavy budgets across multiple entities in the UK, US, and Germany.
The ideal candidate would be values-driven, aligned with the organisation’s mission and feminist culture, and able to navigate complex funding structures and legal frameworks. An entrepreneurial mindset was key – someone as comfortable overseeing financial strategy as they are managing day-to-day operations and compliance in a collaborative, supportive team environment.
